My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with multiple families with special needs children. Most recently, I worked with a family with twin nonverbal special needs 5 year old boys. Each child had specific needs and forms of communication needed constant attention. I ensured structure for the children and encouraged development through visual support and encouraging engaging play.
I also worked with an Autistic 3 year old girl that was also 80% deaf. Through careful observation, I made the parents aware of her issues with hearing. Helped with her social interactions, used visual stimuli, and taught her and her parents toddler level ASL.
