A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Chelsey and I was born and raised in Spokane. I went to West Valley High School and after graduation, I left to attend college at Western in Bellingham where I got my first nanny job. I nannied throughout my 4 years in college and again throughout my time in grad school at Seattle University. I'm moving back to the hometown for the first time in over 20 years and Im super excited to reconnect with friends and family here! I have over 14 years' experience nannying for children of all ages. I provide a safe, warm and engaging environment and have an innate ability to connect with kids. I just transitioned out of being a school counselor full time and am required to have a clear background check for that job, so have not included it in my profile. I have been a high school counselor for the past 10 years, coached high school basketball for 2 seasons and taught English in Korea for preschool and elementary age students for 2 years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking kids on adventures daily like local storytime, open gym play, and walks to the park. I enjoy reading with them and engaging in sensory play and song and dance.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is making sure the kids in my care feel safe and loved. I have an innate ability to connect with kids of all ages and personalities and building a trusting relationship with them is always my first priority. I show genuine interest in who they are, what they like and need and I've found this is the surest way to build that connection.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Oh wow, that one is tough because I genuinely have so many! I absolutely love working with infants and my three favorite things are showing them things they've never seen before, making them laugh and deciphering baby/toddler babble because its hilarious and sweet. I had so many moments like this with Marina, the little girl I nannied for while in grad school from the time she was 3 months old to 3 years. One of the things that just popped into my mind was when I showed her a white dandelion when she was around 1 year old and how to blow all the seeds away from the stem. She was dying with laughter and just kept picking them with me and doing her best to blow the seeds away. So cute!!
