A little bit about me

I have been a stay at home parent for 5 years now, and took a job being the nanny for my brother child as I try to re-enter the job market. I was the main caretaker for my child for the first year, then went back to work for 8 months before needing to stay at home to care for my child. I am a more relaxed caregiver, however I am more than happy to follow a strict schedule.

While I do not have paid experience caring for toddlers or older children, I do have experience with my own child, step children and child family members.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My highschools' early childhood education program worked with the in-school daycare for teacher's children where students worked with the children twice a week, rotating between the infant, toddler and preschooler rooms. I was the primary, at home parent for my own child except for 8 months when I worked a few days a week. I am currently working as a part time nanny for six weeks taking care of a six month old.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel like it's fairly obvious that helping nurture and keeping the children safe is the most important part, so I will add that I feel it is very important to follow the parent/guardians schedule as close as possible for babies. I do best in a role with specific instructions, show me exactly how you want it done and I can copy your methods exactly. The only way you could 'micromanage' me is to do everything for me, I will not be offended or frustrated by being shown your method even if it is the standard for care.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience caring for/looking after children with autism, ADHD and Audhd. I currently have not cared for a non verbal child, however I am confident in my abilities to care for a non verbal child as long as there is a set way to communicate with them (i.e. cards, speech device, etc) I do not have experience with children with physical disabilities.
