Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked in a day camp setting (ages 5-12), as a toddler ice skating teacher, in church care for infants and toddlers, as a part-time nanny (for one family and for a group of families) and as a both a consistent and one time babysitter.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love crafts and have experience creating and facilitating artistic activities for kids of many ages. I also have a background in working at summer camps and have learned many fun structured games. There are many fun parks in the area that I have taken kids to, as well as an amazing public library that hosts great activities. I also have a background in Ice Skating, and taught little ones how to skate for many years!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with children on the autism spectrum, specifically by supporting feeding therapy, helping children build tolerance to uncertainty, and emotional management skills.
Starting in 2021 I worked with children suffering from separation anxiety and attachment issues brought on by parents going back to work as Covid lockdowns stopped. With these kids the parents and I worked together to have routines in place and build distress tolerance, with the goal of being able to send the child to daycare or have occasional babysitting successfully.
I have worked with many children with ADHD, focusing on positive ways to get physical energy out and building schedules. As well as strategies for managing ADHD symptoms like time blindness, difficulty focusing, sensory seeking, and aversions to tastes or textures.
I also have experience working with children that have ARFID, supporting feeding therapies and exposures.
