A little bit about me

I am 51 year old newly retired teacher, with 30 years of experience working with children. I am also a mother of two grown children and two fur babies. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in deaf education. I have taught children who range from 3 years old to 18, and was successful at my job. Before I was a teacher I worked in day cares, summer camps, and babysat. I know a good deal of sign language and am experienced working with children with special needs. I love to garden, cook, read, design, and talk walks with my husband. I was ready to retire from the classroom, but not from children. I am healthy and very responsible. Lastly, I look at life in a very positive way and treat each day as a gift.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a professional educator who taught over the course of my career - 4th grade general education, 6th grade social studies, 7th grade science, elementary art, students who were deaf/hard of hearing.. In college I was a day care worker in a 2 year old room, summer camp worker and director for military dependent children in Germany and Guam. During my teens, I babysat for families in my neighborhood. Most importantly I raised a son and a daughter who are now healthy, happy, and responsible adults.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, art, adventure trips to parks, museums, zoos, and anywhere where kids can participate in hand learning that expand their intellectual and creative abilities.

is being a responsible and caring person in a child's life that a parent can count on to show up every time for their child in a positive way.
