A little bit about me

Hello there, my name is Christina, and I've been working as a nanny for the last two years. Outside of my professional experience watching children, I am an aunt to a whopping ten nieces and nephews, with whom I have looked after for the better part of my twenty-eight years of my life.

I absolutely love children and would consider myself a natural when it comes to looking after them. My main hobbies include reading and writing, and as I finish pursuing a degree in English Literature, I would love to spend my working hours improving literacy in children and helping them achieve their academic goals. My love of reading is something I would adore the chance to share!

I am very friendly, approachable, respectful, and diligent. I'm fastidious about my work, whatever it may entail, and will always put 100% effort into everything I do. I would consider it an honor to be chosen to be the nanny for a family that feels I meet (and hopefully soar above!) their requirements.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

During my community service in college, I worked with kids on the Autism spectrum that had many special needs to be met. I also did a reading program through my school, University of California, Riverside, that partnered with the sorority Delta Gamma and promoted reading and literacy in elementary school-aged children.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, story time with the librarian, trips to the park, motor skill activities, learning games, music exposure, practicing social skills, developing language, visiting museums, exposure to the arts. I also enjoy taking them to various free community events put on by the city where they can enjoy the company of children their age.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, there is nothing more precious than the memories we make during childhood. As a child of divorce and two hard-working parents, I spent a lot of my time away from
home and in daycare facilities. While I made some wonderful memories and cherished friends, I understand now as an adult how much I would have benefitted from the type of attentive care that I intend to provide. There is nothing more beneficial than making sure a child is safe, protected, and happy. I feel like since the child's wellbeing is my utmost priority, nothing is more important than ensuring that I provide a level of care that will leave all parties beyond just satisfied.

My experience with special needs children...

I have some experience working with children that are on the Autism spectrum. My experience is limited to children with mild to moderate special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was when the child I looked after said their first word. It was such a special moment, and he spoke it so clearly and distinctly, that it was truly an experience I will never forget. I was alight with so much excitement and thrilled that all of the effort I had put in to speaking to him since infancy was reflected in how soon he spoke, and how clearly he did so.

My name is Amya! I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2025 with a B.S. in Psychology. Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for taking care of children. I spent a large portion of my 4 years in college focusing on child development, behavioral health, and educational psychology. My passion in each of these subjects lead me to 3 years of teaching preschoolers and toddlers in Boone, NC. After graduation, my focus toward behavioral health and education lead me to my work as a registered behavior technician, where I worked directly with children with Autism to promote emotional wellbeing, functional communication, and appropriate replacements for maladaptive behaviors, all through play therapy!
