A little bit about me

Children are my life's work, and my life's joy!

I'm a retired teacher, with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated with honors from Towson University. I have a lifetime's experience working with, and taking care of, small children. In my twenties I worked for five families, consecutively, as a nanny for preschool aged children, including toddlers, infants, and infant twins.

During that time, and throughout my thirties, I also helped to raise my youngest siblings, who were adopted from Romania as babies.

From my thirties to my fifties, I have taught in the public school system for Baltimore County: kindergarten and second grade, respectively, while raising my own son.

I'm retired from teaching, and currently looking for a part-time nanny position close to White Marsh, Nottingham, Perry Hall, or Parkville, in Maryland. Perhaps five hours per day, Monday through Friday. I am available for the occassional Friday night, with advance notice.

I look forward to using all of my love, care, and a wealth of experience, to care for your children while you work. I'm not a babysitter, however. If you are looking for a $5-10 per hour sitter, it is unfortunately not me.

I'm a professional nanny, with experience caring for young children, preparing meals, nursing sick children, helping with schoolwork, doing light laundry, and many other tasks. I love to stimulate young minds and imaginations with music, stories, pre-literacy and beginner reader activities, active play and games, outings, and whatever you believe is needed for your child(ren) to grow up happy.

Please feel free to contact me anytime!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have ten years' prior experience as a nanny. I also hold a BA in Early Childhood Education, and have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm creative and imaginative, and have a talent for infusing playtime with learning activities. I'm great with reading-themed adventures, music, arts & crafts, and pretend play ideas. I love taking kids for walks or to the park. I'm not super familiar with sports, but since most kiddos love outdoor play, I can come up with many game ideas. I have even gardened with children. I have planned picnics and daytrips also.

I have also been the adult participant when kids have been enrolled in activities such as Gymboree, art lessons, or other activity groups or music play groups. I have taken kids to free library activities, sports practice, and after-school groups

The most important part about being a nanny...

Children are my life's work, both as a nanny and as a former teacher. I love them, and I enjoy being able to help their families in many ways.

My experience with special needs children...

I have taught in Title One schools, and have had many students in my classes with special needs: physical disabilities , learning disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and social-emotional issues.
I also have a (much-younger) brother with soecial needs, who I helped raise.
Thus far, none of the children for whom I've nannied have had special needs, but I'm open to new adventures!

The most important part about being a nanny...

: ) There have been too many to list! Kids are all special in their own ways. I've had many rewarding moments, from helping a child learn a new skill, to recording a baby's first steps on video to send to parents, to escorting preschoolers to Italy to visit their grandparents. Their hugs & smiles have been my happiest rewards.
