A little bit about me

Hi!
My name is Claire and I am 22 years old. I am getting back into the childcare industry after trying out some different career avenues.
Most of the work I have done adhering to childcare has been either respite for special needs children and adults, or under the table babysitting.
(I also have experience in kitchen prep from restaurants, housekeeping/cleaning, and pet care from pet sitting. I also am currently not first aid or CPR certified, but I am more than willing to get those certifications if requested by the family!)

I love the outdoors and trying new things.

I am more than willing to negotiate wages with the family as well, my rate is not set and stone they just require me to put something there. Same goes for hours I can work I am pretty Flexible.

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I used to volunteer and teach art classes to toddlers in middle and high school and I so enjoyed watching the kids express aspects of their personality through art and just letting their creative side fly! It’s a fun way to build a relationship with a young one, as it gives them the opportunity to take initiative in something where they can independently (for the most part) express themselves, without overwhelming them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There is nothing more important than the relationship with the family as a whole. I want to try and build those relationships with families where honest communication is at the forefront, I want to family to feel comfortable with me of course as I am taking on a big responsibility and I want to make sure I am doing everything I possibly can to meet their required needs.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for both autistic adults and children. I lead with a gentle approach, stick to routines that work best for the client and family. I find it most helpful to have open conversations with the family often, as we can discuss what approaches we believe are serving the client, and which we believe not to be. I am comfortable dealing with what may be seen as “difficult behaviors” and I utilize a gentle response to ensure the child is safe and comfortable in the moments they feel overwhelmed.
