A little bit about me

I have 25+ years experience in the childcare field. My initial 5 years of experience was in the UK.
I have 4 daughters and of my own, ages 22, 17, 12 and 20 months.
My paid experience in childcare falls between the Newborn - 12 yr age group.
I've held 3 primary Nanny jobs in the US to date. My first, 8 years in length, the second 3 years in duration and my last job I held for almost 5 years, in Tallahassee.
I've also worked several other nanny jobs, mostly seasonal, and so shorter in duration.
In addition to nannying, I held a position as a preschool teacher at Faith Presbyterian Preschool in Tallahassee for 2 years.
I'm a HUGE lover of Nature and the outdoors, I'm very active and creative.
Our daughter Kathryn turns two in September.
I am looking for a position that allows me to bring my baby Kathryn to work with me.
I am CPR certified, a non-smoker and have my own vehicle. I am also DCF certified in early childhood development.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Weather permitting I prefer to spend time outside with children, visiting playgrounds, hiking, biking, swimming, teaching children about nature and how to appreciate it.
Some Indoor activities include, arts and crafts, reading, playing card games,
baking, visiting kids-friendly museums, story time at the library etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

First and foremost is having good judgment and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children.
Establishing standards and expectations for behavior while being both consistent and fair is something is a priority. In addition, acknowledging and praising good behavior, nurturing creativity and teaching children the importance of kindness and effective communication is Paramount.
I support imaginative play, and limit electronics.
Helping to foster good eating habits and making healthy food choices is encouraged and ensuring lots of playtime preferably outdoors.

My experience with special needs children...

I Nannied for a family of 5 in Tallahassee, the eldest boy Beau is special needs and on the spectrum, I worked for that family for five years. He was age 3 when I started.

In addition to Beau, I’ve also cared for a little boy with autism here in Fort Mitchell, age 4.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There have been too many to count!
There were a few years when I started journaling because I wanted to document some of the funny and sweet things.
I honestly can’t pinpoint a single favorite nanny moment but I do recall when I told the children at my last nanny family that I was going to have a baby, each one of the four children had a different reaction, I have it on video, it was so great.
