A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Clarissa Torgeson; I recently completed my Master's degree in child and family studies from the University of Chester. I love animals, exploring new things, spending time outdoors, and travelling.

I believe that play is crucial for everyone regardless of age. I believe in allowing children to try things independently (with guidance and supervision, of course) and am not afraid of cleaning up the messes caused by our experiments, art, and play.
I am aware that every child is different and will look to you (the parents) for guidance and insight so I can gain a better understanding of your child's needs. I also believe communication is essential and, as such, will send updates and schedule meetings with you so I can assure you that I am meeting your expectations.
Thanks for reading! I hope to hear from you soon :)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an infant teacher at Kidz Town in Utah. I have also volunteered with Head Start, Children's Adaptive Physical Education Society (C.A.P.E.S.), Arts in the Parks, and completed 128 teaching hours at a preschool at Weber State University

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Art activities, science experiments, reading, playing, exploring, outside play, board games, and hands-on activities

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being secure base for the child when the parent is temporarily unavailable while also letting the child know just how much their parents love them.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working children on the ASD spectrum. With that being said, I have experience with some of the many "challenges" such as communication (nonverbal-ACC devices, some sign language), Intense behaviors, familiar with some sensory needs, and much more. I understand that these children are unique and often just need someone to provide patience and support for them and their parents.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Too many to choose! Really any time a child smiles and laughs!
