More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I began babysitting at 13 years old and never stopped. I went to college for liberal studies with an emphasis in elementary education. I have coached youth softball and given pitching lessons. I also volunteered in classrooms for 75+ hrs at semester in college and worked in an after school program for several years. On top of that I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews who are a big part of my life and who I have often had the pleasure of caring for. I am also a godmother and occasionally babysitter for my best friends son.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
The actives I enjoy doing with kids vary greatly depending on the age of the children.
I love to share things I'm passionate about with kids and learn about their passions too.
I think reading to/with kids is important at all ages and always make it a point to make it park of our day.
Age appropriate arts and crafts are always a favorite for me. In addition when kids are old enough I also love to teach them about hula hooping. For kids interested in sports, I played multiple sports growing up and softball in college and am always happy to shoot some hoops or throw the ball.
With younger kids singing, listening to and making music is one of my favorite things to do. I also love going to storytime and other activities for young kids at local libraries (they are such great resources for kids!).
Going to the park and/or on walks is something I cherish each day. Being outside and making sure we are moving our bodies is always a must. Cooking and/or baking are also at the top of my list.

The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is connection. First and foremost to the kids, but also to the parents. I want to have a collaborative relationship with the parents where we work together to help nurture the happiest healthiest version of their kid possible.
Beyond that it is the impact I can have on a kids life and getting the opportunity to help teach kindness, understanding and compassion to as many kids as possible.

My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with a families with a variety of special needs included, but not limited to: add, ADHD, autism, cognitive delays, auditory processing disorder, memory issues, dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc.
I didn't originally plan or working with special needs children, but once I did, I found my place. Every family I have nannied fof has had at least one child with special needs and/or neurodrivergencies.

The most important part about being a nanny...
So hard to choose, but probably when one of my old nanny kids graduated from preschool. The teacher was talking about their accomplishments and what they learned and thanking the friends and family for helping them get there. He immediately interrupted and said, "what about nannies?". The teacher told him he's right and other people helped us to get here as well like nannies.
My nanny kid proceeded to add me, by name, to whomever the teachers were talking about being important in our journey. Each time I didn't know whether to laugh at how cute he was or tear up with pride that he made sure I was included in every little part because that's how important our relationship was to him.
