My experience with special needs children...
I used to work/volunteer at a horse barn that worked with special needs children and I was there for about 9 years and within that I took them on trail rides, and worked summer camps with them.

I used to babysit/help out a family with their daughter Brawnwin. She was 5 when I started helping out and she was blind. You would never know she was the sweetest. One time I took her our to the barn I worked at and we got on one of the larger vaulting horses and she requested to go on my shoulders and wanted me to do all of these tricks with her. Even though she may not of been able to see she had no fear at all. She told me when we were done that it was the best day of her life and started crying and hugged me saying how she was so glad she met me. That was a highlight moment for sure!
