I've been working with kids for about five years now. My first job was a private swim instructor, working with kids 18 months to 12 years old. I specifically worked with ASD children, and helped all kids become comfortable in a scary environment. I also babysat and nannied for multiple families throughout high school and my first year of college. In my years at Burlington, I've volunteered with kids at the Boys and Girls Club. Currently, I work at the Vermont Department of Children and Families. I supervise visits between parents and children, give advice for relationship building, and transport kids to/from foster homes, therapy, etc.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Indoors, I love sensory activities with kids that let them explore. I also love reading/practicing reading with kids. More than anything, I love to be outdoors with kids and let them explore. Wandering around, swimming, and playing games outside is always fun.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The thing that matters most to me about being a nanny is building relationships with kids where we have mutual respect for each other. Of course there are times where discipline is needed, but I want the kids that I work with to feel comfortable with me and see me as somebody that they can 'hang out' with.

My favorite moment with kids I've worked with has been seeing them reach milestones. I cared for a set of twins, one of which was born with clubbed feet. Seeing her go through the process of visiting doctors and finally being able to walk around with her brother was definitely my favorite moment.
