A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Deborah Danielle Denney. I am 38 years old and I currently am A Caregiver for A 14 year old Autistic boy named Lance. Though I spend a lot of time with Lance, waking him and getting him ready for school, then driving him to school/back- I have a lot of free time that I would much rather spend attending to someones’ needs. The less time I have to spend on myself, the better. I’m guilty of frivolous spending or being an unpaid taxi. Time is money, in my mind.(Spend wisely)
* Unfortunately, I must share the fact that my past has some mistakes and is still haunting me. My husband passed away in 2017 from a brain aneurysm, suddenly, and when I lost him- I somewhat lost myself. I turned to my family for Support and Love and they were doing drugs. So I too began to have an addiction. I’m now 9 years clean and sober and I take part in meetings, and have A sponsor. Proving my Character as it is today is all I can do.

Thank you for your time and hopefully, your understanding.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For many years, I had no choice but to take care of my niece, Lindsay and my nephew, Austin.
Honestly, I raised them. My sister was out of the picture more often than not, and they became my responsibility. looking back, those were some great times. The kids were babies and as cute as could be. They had no say so in the matter of the world, or their mother. Austin and Linds were three years apart and they were truly a handful. Austin was diagnosed with ADHD at A very young age.

Once I was A teen, I moved to my fathers and there too I fell into misplaced responsibility and found myself the number one person to care for my little brother, Joshua. Josh is now 23, and credits me for his upbringing. And if I could go back, I wouldn’t change A thing.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love reading books at night time or even while potty training. I enjoy playing outside- Playing house or building forts, and I have gotten really really good at playing cars. I truly enjoy it all and I am very confident in my abilities to teach. I find that repetition is where it’s at. And you have to make it exciting, and well rewarded. Stickers or screen time, whatever the case may be….

The most important part about being a nanny...

I just know that safety is number one, and it’s not something that I play with. I can be trusted, depended upon, and as close to you when you’re not around, as you want me to be.

And I have no problem whatsoever with being contacted in an emergency situation. Anytime, if I’m needed and available, I’ll be there!

Being responsible and respectful is also important to me.

I absolutely adore, teaching children. No matter if it’s potty training or doing homework.

And because of the fact that you Never know what’s going to happen, I take pride in the fact that I pay the upmost attention, label me, cautious.

My experience with special needs children...

As A young adult I moved from my dad’s and into my own place, and looked after A 14 year old girl named, Nicole. Unfortunately, Nicole couldn’t walk and she was completely blind. All she could do was scoot around the house, and it was heartbreaking. I loved sitting with her and being silly, and doing whatever would make her laugh. Nicole also had to be fed through a tube in her stomach. She would quickly get upset at times and pull the tube out. I then had a very short amount of time to get it re-inserted. All without causing unnecessary pain. It was a difficult process all the way around but it gave me a great amount of experience as well as a new found confidence. I believe in myself and my abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I don’t have one specific favorite moment in my past nannying. It’s just not possible.
I enjoy doing homework, playing games. Creating games or role playing scenarios even.
Allowing kids to be themselves and as creative as possible can really make some magic..
But my favorite surprises, are what they say. Because you never know what it’s going to be!
