A little bit about me

I am a former preschool teacher with 20 yrs of experience...worked with infants - 5 yr olds in that timeframe. I'm a mom myself with a 10 and 14 yr old, therefore courtesy for my own family needs is also a must. I live nearby in Slaton and I am First Aid/CPR certified with a clean background. Available for early mornings 6 am-4pm Mon-Fri, occasional overnights and date nights with at minimum 2 day prior notice. Age appropriate arts/crafts, basic and extended education, potty training, naptime, and meals are included...housekeeping (excluding laundry) is an extra $15/day.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

At 16 I started working in our nursery and Parents Night Out at my church back home. Since then I have worked in a couple daycares across Lubbock and provided private in home care for family and friends as well as volunteer for the youth sports in my community.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts/crafts, making up stories, playing outside, building blanket forts, baking, exploring, educating, encouraging them.

Time spent nurturing the children, honesty and building trust with families depending on you to love and protect their child as your own.

My experience with special needs children...

In my 15 years I have dealt with only 5 clinically diagnosed special needs children although I'm sure a handful of undiagnosed were also in my care throughout the years. Instead of teaching them what was/wasn't acceptable amongst their peers they taught me so much more through the daily challenges of their own lives...more patience on their meltdown hard days, kindness/love/understanding on levels separated from others their age, excitement for overcoming their obstacles that were easy peasy for others, to just step back and view things from a different perspective...even if it's an upside down pretzel twist with my arm and head both in the neck hole still hanging on to my marker wearing 1 shoe. 🤷 I was able to get a non verbal child to vocally speak their colors, teach a 3 yr how to feed themselves and transition to a cup, showed an anti affectionate autistic child how to be affectionate...all with the increased patience and perspective they taught me to have.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There's far too many! Super cool reading fort under the table (somehow they paid attention when they thought we were hiding out reading), amazement of science experiments, learning new "uncoordinated" group dances, relay races, just being on their level and being told I was their best friend because we played together.
