More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes nearly eight years of working with children of various ages and abilities. I began as a babysitter at 15, where I provided nurturing and attentive care, supervised playtime, assisted with homework, prepared meals, and maintained a safe environment. As a caregiver, I supported children’s daily needs, offering emotional support and ensuring a structured routine. My role as a Registered Behavior Technician allowed me to work one-on-one with children, helping them develop essential skills through behavioral interventions. At a learning center, I served as an assistant teacher, assisting with classroom management, lesson planning, and creating a positive educational space. Currently, I work as an IEP aide in an elementary and middle school, where I provide individualized support to students with special needs, collaborating with teachers and parents to foster academic and social success.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe children thrive when engaged in activities that are both fun and educational, and I enjoy creating opportunities for them to explore their creativity and build new skills. To name an few, Arts and crafts are always a favorite, as they allow children to express themselves while improving fine motor skills—I love organizing projects like painting, making collages, or creating DIY crafts. Outdoor play is another great way to keep kids active and energized, whether it’s a game of tag, scavenger hunts, or simple nature walks where we can explore and learn about the world around us. I also enjoy incorporating educational activities like reading stories, practicing math with fun games, or conducting simple science experiments to spark curiosity. For quieter moments, puzzles, board games, and building blocks encourage problem-solving and teamwork. My goal is always to balance fun, creativity, and learning to ensure children feel engaged and supported.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children can thrive. This means building trust with both the children and their parents, understanding each child’s unique needs, and fostering their growth emotionally, socially, and intellectually. A great nanny is patient, reliable, and compassionate, ensuring that children feel loved, respected, and encouraged to explore their world. It’s not just about supervision—it’s about being a positive role model, providing consistency, and helping shape their confidence and independence in meaningful ways.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience working with children with special needs spans multiple roles, each shaping my ability to provide compassionate, effective support. As a babysitter, I offered personalized care in safe, nurturing environments tailored to each child’s strengths and challenges. Working as a Registered Behavior Technician, I implemented individualized behavior plans to help children build essential life skills. At a learning center, I promoted inclusion by assisting in classroom activities and supporting developmental growth. As an IEP aide, I collaborated closely with teachers and families to ensure students’ academic and social success through consistent, individualized assistance. Currently, I serve as a feeding therapist for autistic children, helping them improve their sensory regulation and eating habits. These diverse roles have strengthened my patience, adaptability, and commitment to helping children with special needs thrive across all areas of life.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my funniest nanny moments was when a 6-year-old I was watching decided to “help” me with the grocery list. They confidently wrote, “1 million candies” at the top and then handed it back, saying, “You’re welcome. And this is the most important thing.” When I told them we couldn’t actually buy a million candies, they sighed dramatically and said, “Fine, but at least get a billion!” It was so hard to keep a straight face while explaining why that wouldn’t fit in the cart! And how we can’t spend all our money on candy !
