More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nurse (gerontology & medical/surgical). I have worked on peds, and in NICU.
I have also babysat and tutored children grades 1-8 since I left nursing and have raised five children of my own.
I love to do arts and crafts, so if you have basic craft supplies we can do hands on things to pass the time instead of spending it on screens.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities depend on the age of the child. For example, infants need tummy time for growth, but toddlers prefer to play games that stimulate their imagination like blocks, songs and dances, exploring outdoors... I base my activities on what would be appropriate for the children. I have worked with differently able children and its all about finding safe fun things we can do together.
Some parents allow a certain amount of screen time. In the past I have let children watch educational videos that taught simple words or numbers or nature videos. I try and align some writing activities to go with what we saw, like if we watched a video about -an words( can, man, tan...), we could write some or draw pictures(little hands may not be ready for writing). It can be fun putting on a national geographic video and having some healthy snacks followed by finger painting some of the animals we saw. Crayola has some great mess free products.
I'm all about having fun while maximizing educational time.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Safety first! I worked as a nurse in SDS, PEDS... so safety is super important. I'm also vaccinated and keep them up to date, so I'm as safe as possible for your child. I love edu-tainment, having fun while learning something new and age appropriate.
Children are ready to learn lots of new things, so I use that to have some fun with nature, numbers, words... I have tutored older children in math, science, SAT prep, and English, with younger children learning comes more naturally, as they are curious. Even a simple activity like stringing beads can teach colors, patterns, shapes, and get little hands ready for writing (or typing).

My experience with special needs children...
I have worked in my professional career with children of different abilities. Every child is different so I can't say what skills would be best until I met your child and spoke with you.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I'm really big on outdoor time when possible. Children are naturally curious about nature and I encourage exploration and research. Let me give you an example. I took a preschooler to the park during fall. It was part of our daily routine and the leaves had just began to turn. We collected some leaves, did leaf rubbing, read about different trees and he was so excited to show his dad his rubbings and the leaves we collected that it was a really special moment for everyone.
