A little bit about me

Hello ! M y name is Diya Dalo and I am 16 years old. I am currently in high school, going into my junior year. I have been taking AP/honors classes ever since 6th grade. I intend on being a neurosurgeon once I am older. I've decided to pick up a job because I'm growing up and am on my way to becoming more independent. Babysitting would be the best thing for me because I am AMAZING with kids. I also love them so much, I can work with any age and I'm perfectly okay with special needs as well. Unfortunately, I cannot work with kids that are higher on the spectrum because I'm not trained nor certified for it. Although I am really friendly, a good listener, attentive, and caring ! I've been taking care of kids and babysitting for as long as I can remember but I've never gotten paid for it. You could say I have 7+ years of experience !

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have numerous hours of unpaid work with kids! It has always been something I've done just because but now I'm interested in making a living from it!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I will do anything with kids. Draw, paint, play, swim, take them to parks, play sports (although I am not that good), etc. I love spending time with kids and I get along with all of them !

The most important part about being a nanny...

I just want to make kids happy to be honest.

My experience with special needs children...

My mother has been a special needs teacher since I was in 6th grade so I've had a general idea of how to handle kids with special needs. Many of my family members or my mom's students have trusted to be around me and be placed under my supervision !

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have a few moments that I really loved. Once, I was at the pool with my friends and a 4 year old took it upon herself to become friends with me. We were hanging around and I was helping her swim while I was playing ball with her brother. As I was playing with her she stopped to ask me why I have so much hair which cracked me up (I have really big and curly hair). Then she proceeded to compliment my eyelashes and I just though it was the cutest thing ever. My other favorite experience was when I was at a family gathering and I was watching all the kids and playing with them. One of those kids was autistic and selectively mute, the whole time he stayed in a corner playing and doing his own thing but when he'd get excited and start jumping and squealing, I'd do it with him. I suppose he appreciated what I did because later that night he gave me a hug which really touched me.
