One time while babysitting, I took care of two kids, a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old, after school. I helped them with homework, made snacks, and came up with fun activities to keep them busy. The 4-year-old got a little upset because they missed their parents, so I grabbed their favorite storybook and we built a "blanket fort campsite" with flashlights, which cheered them up right away.
The 7-year-old had a school project they didn’t really want to work on, so I turned it into a game to make it more fun, and they ended up finishing it without any fuss. By the time their parents got home, both kids were happy and excited to show off what they did.

he most important part about being a nanny is building trust and making sure the kids feel safe and happy. It’s all about being someone they can rely on, whether it’s helping with homework, having fun together, or just being there when they need comfort. Creating a good connection with them and being someone the parents can count on makes all the difference.

One of my favorite memories was with a 3-year-old I babysat. We had a "pirate adventure" day where we made pirate hats out of newspaper, created a treasure map, and went on a hunt to find “buried treasure” (which was just toys hidden around the house). They got so into it, calling me “Captain Dolly” the whole time.
At the end of the day, we turned a cardboard box into a treasure chest and filled it with their favorite toys and snacks. It was such a fun day, and seeing them so happy and excited made it all worth it!
