Hey there! My name is Dylan, I am currently a lead teacher at a private preschool academy. My babysitting/nanny experience dates back to 2014 when I began watching my uncles kids, now 7 of them, ages 1-13.
I love working alongside kids and providing energetic, creative, positive and uplifting environments for them to grow in. I have experience in administering curriculum to children ages 3-6, aiding in lunch/snacks, outside play regulations and am CPR certified.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a lead teacher at a private preschool academy. I lead and maintain a steady classroom of 11 children, ages 4-5. I administer curriculum (reading, writing, pronunciation, sentence structure, healthy play, etc), run circle time, etc.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going outdoors and physical activity. I love being able to give kids fun, energetic and mutual experiences of joy. I also love activities where kids intellect is expressed; with reading, homework, emotions, etc. I love to see how the minds of kids work!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is cultivating patience. We all love kids, but we can all also say that it isn’t hard for our patience to be tested by them. As someone pursuing work with kids, it’s very important to me that I remain calm; balanced and patient. Even in times when a kid is upset, having a tantrum or doesn’t know how to express an emotion their feeling, I believe in a thorough and patient conversation with them before opting for disciplinary action/words. There are many things in a child’s development that are influenced by even the smallest of things, like the tone you have with them.
I believe in treating kids with human respect, patience, understanding and emotional intelligence.

My experience with special needs children...

During my time as a professional studio photographer, it was very common that my subject/client was special needs. I have worked with individuals with low and high functioning autism as well as down syndrome. I made sure during the session to never waiver how much energy I was giving as to make them laugh, crack a smile, and to feel comfortable with me. It was very frequent that my clients would be non verbal but regardless, I would find a way to get a smile going. Every person I have ever worked with, or simply met, will always get the same 3 things from me: respect, understanding, and compassion.

I currently work alongside many children who are on the spectrum. There are so many ways to approach helping a child, who is on the spectrum, with something they may need. My every day is occupied with aiding kids from every walk of life.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There is no better moment than the “wind down” stage of watching kids as it gets late. I adore getting kids comfortable into bed, reading a book to them or putting on a favorite movie, and knowing that the time spent with them is very worthy.
