A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Dylana Lewis, and I’m a 21-year-old college junior at San Diego State University majoring in communications. I’ve recently earned my AA degree in communications at a junior college, and during my time there was the cheer captain of my team for two years, which helped me develop strong leadership and organizational skills. I’ve always had a natural connection with kids and a genuine passion for helping them learn, grow, and feel supported. Being 12 years older than my younger brother, who is now 9, gave me early and invaluable hands-on experience in childcare—from bottle feeding and bedtime routines to homework help and playtime. Over the years, I’ve also cared for children of family friends, which has taught me how to adapt to different personalities and household routines. I pride myself on being nurturing, responsible, and playful, and I always aim to create a positive and safe environment where children feel comfortable, happy, and engaged.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Experience where I also cared for children includes babysitting for several family friends with children ranging from toddlers to around age 11. I’ve spent a lot of time with little ones—helping with things like preparing toddler-friendly meals, keeping up with nap schedules, and planning fun, age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, story time, and outdoor play. I’m also experienced with after-school routines for elementary-aged kids, including homework help, snack time, and creating a calm, consistent environment. These experiences have helped me become patient, reliable, and creative when it comes to keeping kids engaged, happy, and safe.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Activities I enjoy doing with children include anything that sparks creativity, curiosity, and fun! I love hands-on play like Play-Doh, Legos, arts and crafts, and drawing with chalk outside. I also enjoy going on walks and encouraging simple nature adventures. For toddlers and younger kids, I like incorporating fun learning activities like color and shape recognition games, letter matching, and reading together. I also enjoy baking easy, kid-friendly snacks together—it's a fun way to bond and teach basic skills. I always try to tailor activities to the child’s interests and developmental level while helping them feel confident, cared for, and genuinely excited to learn and play.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is creating a trusting, caring relationship where the child feels safe, supported, and truly seen. It’s not just about supervising—it’s about being a positive role model, a comforting presence, and someone they can laugh with, learn from, and rely on. I believe consistency, patience, and a genuine love for working with kids make all the difference. When a child feels secure and happy, they thrive; being a part of that growth is what makes nannying so meaningful to me.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was during a school break when I was home and babysitting two little girls, ages 4 and 8. We spent the afternoon playing with Barbie dolls, and it brought back such fun memories of my own childhood. It was such a simple, genuine moment of connection—laughing, storytelling, and just enjoying being in the moment with them. Later, their parents told me the girls had asked when I could come back to babysit again, which truly meant the world to me. It reminded me why I love working with kids—the bonds you build are so real and special.
