The most important part about being a nanny...
Showing up present and hearing and seeing the child as another complex human being at a different stage in development. Building connection by listening, valuing their words, thoughts and ideas. Being able to learn from them while also being able to guide them in a positive direction. Showing compassion and patience over and over again pays off.
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for children with Type I diabetes and celiac disease.
I have also cared for children on the autism spectrum and with other mental health needs such as OCD and ADHD.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Watching a child accomplish something after watching and assisting them attempt that task over an extended period of time. Seeing them take pride in themselves and gain confidence and knowing that my help aided in that moment for them.
