A little bit about me

My name is Elizabeth Miller. I am 25 from Chattanooga Tennessee. I graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Bryan College in 2016. Since then I have taught Kindergarten at The Academy of Gateway in Murfreesboro, TN (1 Year). I currently teach science and intervention for LEAD Public Schools in Nashville at Neely's Bend Middle School (grades 6-8). With recent events stemming from COVID 19, I have decided to pursue a part-time position helping family's in my community by supporting their essential work hours. I have extensive experience and profession development training through the TN Department of Education including CPR and First Aid Certificate training (can provide upon request), and TDOTS infancy training (refer to Lindsey Weeks-Coordinator of The Academy of Gateway Early Childhood Education Center). More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am currently a middle school science and intervention teacher for LEAD Public Schools in Nashville. I teach Tier 3 and Title 1 students at LEAD Neely's Bend Middle School. Prior to my journey with LPS, I taught Kindergarten Prep (ages 1-5) for a year at The Academy of Gateway in Murfreesboro with responsibilities ranging from meal prep, sleep scheduling, curriculum and lesson development, and academic/growth skills aligned with the NeverGrowUpInc. ethos.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some of my favorite activities include: designing "puzzle rooms" for kids to solve, scavenger hunts, hiking, crafts, cooking, DIY science experiments, and any sport developmental skills (primarily SOCCER)!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe being a nanny means providing families with comforted support during essential time away from their little ones. As a teacher, child development is one of my core values when building a trusting relationship with parents who are putting their most prized accomplishment(s) in my care.

My experience with special needs children...

I currently teach intervention at LEAD Public Schools with alignment to the TDOE differentiated learning systems. I have worked with Tier 1 and 3 students (ages 10-13) with EE and EL disabilities following state regulated IEP requirements.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories from my first family is dancing to the Trolls soundtrack (for the 147th time that day) with one of my four-year olds (Maddi). Her favorite song from the Trolls soundtrack is "True Colors" (the Justin Timberlake version). When she would ask to hear "the Trolls song", I would always smile and say, "I will play the Cyndi Lauper song". Since then, I have taught middle school for two years. I just received a call from the family's father the other day with an update from Maddi. Laughing hysterically he informed me, "My five-year-old requested Cyndi Lauper in the car after school today, and we have only you to thank". #girlsjustwanttohavefun
