More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been a Pre-K teacher for 4 years now off and on. I was a Infat teacher after my second year of being a Pre-K teacher. Then, I went on to be a Pre-K teacher again. During the years I have attended trainings to ensure I was providing the best service as I could to families. For example, I know that it is safer for infants to sleep on their backs with nothing in their cribs but their pacifiers. This ensures the child does not suffocate in their sleep. And it is important to touch them with index finger and middle finger every 15 minutes to check for breathing and temperature while the infant is asleep. These are just a few thingthat I have been trained to do.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing science experiments, the way I teach is during play. I am not a fan of worksheets, but do use them time to time. I feel that kids learn through hands-on learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My kids always love to act like they were the teacher, in a good way. So, one day I allowed the kids to take turns teaching the class about something they learned, remind you these kids were four and five. The lessons that they tried to teach their friends were about the books that they loved reading and a few did some on math problems they had been working on the previous week. It turned out to be a great tool for me, it really showed me what really stuck with the kids. It tested the kids without sitting down and questioning them, they would just talk about the books and then I would ask who was their favorite character and where we're the characters at in the book. It worked out tremendously, I ended up using it, anytime it was time to review I would allow the kids to take turns and tell everyone else what they learned.
