I have been a nanny and housekeeper on and off and have over 4 years experience with that. I’ve also worked in licensed childcare centers as a teacher for infants, toddlers, and preschool-age. My most recent experience with this was working at Ridgeview Preschool in Rockwall.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love music. Studies have shown that both classical and restorative music styles can contribute to healthy brain development. I play the piano and sing, and I love to make up silly songs. Art and crafting is also a passion of mine. I love to paint, color, work with clay, and I crochet when I need a mental break. I’m partial to walks when the weather is nice, love to be in the pool in the warmer months, and I really enjoy working with different manipulatives to help children develop those crucial motor skills.
The most important part about being a nanny...
What matters to me is that children under my care are safe, happy, and loved. It’s also very important to me that parents feel I am really listening to them and whatever concerns they may have. It is also important that this feels more like being with family than an actual job. Not every nanny and family will “gel” together, but when you find the right person to care for your babies, that person can really grow with your family and the relationship can evolve and grow based on your needs.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with kiddos that have autism, learning disabilities, mental health disorders, and mood disorders. I’m familiar with Down syndrome, and have experience with children who have special diets due to good allergies or aversions.
The most important part about being a nanny...
For fire safety week, my infant class needed an activity. I filled a bucket with water and cut out/laminated some flames. We put the flames in the water, and my infants took cups and dumped water in the bucket onto the flames to put the fire out. It was so fun to watch them…at that age, everything is about filling and dumping. One of them even filled the cup and brought it to me and dumped it in my lap!! It was so fun!!
