Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have volunteered at 4-H as a junior ambassador and set up STEM activities and helped children to learn and engage with science, technology, engineering and math, as well as bring out their creativity. I have also volunteered at the Circles program at OWCAP where I watched children and facilitated fun activities for them to participate in while their parents took classes on how to manage their finances better to get their families out of poverty.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I'm good at engaging in imagination play, such as pretending to fly a spaceship or pretending to be superheroes. I love playing games, board games or things like hide and seek or simon says, etc. I love drawing and coloring and doing any art projects. I also enjoy having dance parties with the kids. I enjoy going outside and going on scavenger hunt walks or playing outdoor games. I'm also a good storyteller and can read bedtime stories or even make up my own! I also love singing so I don't mind singing a lullaby when it's hard to fall asleep.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important thing is getting to make memories with the kids and leaving a positive impact on their lives. It warms my heart to know that I'm making a difference to these kids.
My experience with special needs children...
I have 3 special needs siblings so I'm used to adjusting my care to meet children's unique needs. I have two siblings on the autism spectrum and one sibling with a medical disorder, so I know a lot about taking care of kids that need a bit of extra help and accomodations.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was going to a park with the kid that I watch and I held my hand out to walk him across the street and he said, are you a robot? because of the way I positioned my arm, and I told him I was trying to hold his hand to walk across the street and we both burst out laughing.
