I love to do crafts, whether that’s painting, making slime, etc… I enjoy going outside and playing. I also like to bake, which most kids love to participate with and it’s also fun to be able to eat what they made.

The most important part about being a nanny is the ability to fit the child’s needs. Every child is different, they like different things.

My experience with special needs children...

I had been a nanny to a 3 year old child with special needs for a year. The little girl is mostly non verbal and autistic. When I first started I knew it would take a while for her to warm up to me because I was a new person in her space and she was a little shy, but that actually wasn’t the case. We followed a routine for most days, which she loved. I would make her meals, if she had school I would pack her lunch. She played with toys and always started her breakfast with mickey mouse clubhouse. She loved to play outside on the play set and during the week we would go to the library, children’s museum, or park. Even though she was mostly non verbal she was learning words and could communicate certain things. During my year with her we practiced her name and age and she also learned my name, which was a huge goal. I learned to be more patient and understanding. It was a wonderful experience.
