A little bit about me

Hi! I’m Emma! Im 18 years old and a freshman studying history at Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire! I grew up as the oldest among many younger kids, which sparked my love for working with children! I have been babysitting for over five years and took on a more consistent nanny role in my junior year for about 6 months for two young kids. I also have taught a few after school classes (mainly K-4) at my local elementary school during my junior and senior year of high school where I planned and facilitated activities, something that I also love doing with the kids I sit for! Recently I have been babysitting for a family with two boys but definitely looking for a more consistent position! I love creating fun, age-appropriate activities, whether that’s crafts, games, or outdoor play, and I really enjoy building meaningful connections with the kids I work with.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was an after school teacher at Anne T. Dunphy during my junior and senior year of high school. I ran classes focused on nature, animals, and an ocean themed class. During these classes I would create activities for the kids to do after I asked them what they wanted to learn about pertaining to the topic I was teaching! For my ocean exploration class I cut out egg cartons to replicate a coral reef and brought in clay for the kids to make their own reefs, as well as previously printing out ocean animals and having them cut and color them to tape onto their reefs at the end! I love creating fun crafts and activities for the kids I work with and this experience let me further that even more!

My experience with special needs children...

Growing up, my mom worked at an elementary school for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. I regularly went to the school with her when I was older and was around the students there and gained an understanding early on of how to interact with special needs children. Along with this experience, my step brother is autistic which allowed me to have personal experiences with taking care of children with special needs.
