Understanding and encouraging kids to learn and grow in a way that is best for them. Every kid is different and has different needs for learning and growth. I think it is important to listen and understand the child while giving them the best quality care.
My experience with special needs children...
I took care of a special needs boy from the time he was 1-5 as well as his 3 older siblings. I was certified in respite care giving to assist with his therapies and work with him 1 on 1.

Taking care of a non verbal 1 year old and having him say his first words to me when he was 2.5!
