I currently work as an RBT, I’ve been a registered behavior tech for kids with autism for about two years. Before that I worked in the social work field for roughly 5 years, where I worked with kids 4yo and under a few times a week.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love coloring, playing games, etc with children! I love going to parks, taking walks, and anything outside!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being patient is very important. Understanding that kids don’t know how to express or process their emotions well yet also helps with patience. Being aware of surroundings is important as well! Noticing when there mood changes could help to know if they aren’t feeling well, If they’re hungry, need a diaper change, etc.
My experience with special needs children...
At my current job I have cared for children with autism. It has taught me a lot about some do’s and dont’s. I have learned what type of things help them become for comfortable when stressed or nervous! I also am majoring in psychology so that helps a little as well:)
