I think it’s also really important to build trust with both the kids and parents and to be understanding of each child’s unique personality and needs.

One of my favorite nanny moments was when the little girl I watched finally learned to ride her bike without training wheels. We had been practicing for weeks, and seeing her face light up when she realized she was doing it on her own was the best feeling ever. She was so proud of herself, and I was just as proud—it was one of those moments that reminded me why I love working with kids.
