"When I had to go back to work with my son only being a few months old, my husband and I visited many daycares. I didn't feel good about any of them. When Erika offered to be his Nanny, I was so relieved. I had known Erika prior to that for approximately four years. She had worked at my older daughter's day care and was amazing there as well. She had also taken care of my older daughter prior to her entering kindergarten. She watched Trevor for us about four days a week and he loved being with her and her children. There was never a day where I dropped him off and felt anxious. I knew he would be well taken care of. Her entire family embraced him as one of their own and to this day he is still like family. Our family was a outdoor type of family. We love hiking, biking, boating, and camping. I coached my daughter's soccer team for 7 years until I was out skilled.
I love reading and doing enrichment type crafts and activities with children of all ages.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I feel like consistency and reliability are very important. Also I don't take the fact that families are trusting you with their children lightly. It's a job that carries tons of responsibility.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked in special education at the county for 3 years. I was part of the vision team which means I was an assistant to children who are are blind or visually impaired. Most of my students were also on the spectrum. The preschool I was employed at was in a small town and was an inclusion preschool. We had several children on the spectrum throughout my 7 years there.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was a nanny for a boy named Trevor. He is very much a part of my family still to this day at 12 years old. My oldest daughter was graduating from her highschool and Trevor was in my care that day. The ceremony was dragging on and his little 3 year old self was being so patient but getting antsy. In the middle of the valedictorian speech, which was really long, Trevor yelled CUCUMBER at the top of his lungs. The people sitting around us luckily found the humor in that moment and the poised valedictorian didn't skip a beat, and I took the cue that it was time to walk around until my daughter's name was called.
