More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
The first time I babysat as a job, I was about 11 or 12. Now 35, mom of 3, with somewhere near 25-30 cousins, numerous on call type “babysitter” jobs and kid drop offs over the years, and around 5-7 years ago I started a 2 year long nanny type job that only ended because the child moved. Since then, I have been in housekeeping at an upscale boutique hotel and are currently in their Accounts department part time, over-night, Thursday to Saturday.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Music, coloring, puzzles, Sioux chef, finding a way to include them in household activities (little ones are so excited and proud after this), taking walks, planting flowers, visiting the park, enjoying outdoors
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being an afterthought! When you’re reliable and can be counted on to handle the things that you were meant to handle, it is quite the compliment to just be an afterthought!
My experience with special needs children...
My own daughter has special needs. I started going to parent trainings at her ABA near the end of 2018. I understand that it requires patience and a willingness to keep trying to redirect, rephrase, and repeat until you learn their language, understand their needs, and care for that child.
