Playing with bikes, scooters, chalk, going on walks (I.e trying to find different colors as we go), jungle gyms, storytelling, playing pretend (all children have different interests so I like to create a safe judgement free zone), reading, drawing, arts/crafts.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Creating a safe space for children to play, imagine, create, and exist along with the desires of the guardians. I see myself as someone there to make the families life easier. That can look different than just childcare. This includes house-hold maintenance, food preparation, transportation, etc.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked providing ABA services in-home, in a clinical setting, as well as a public school setting. Clients and students have ranged from 3 years of age to 17 years of age. I am currently safety care, first aid/cur trained.
The most important part about being a nanny...
It was a really nice day and the kiddos were wanting to watch TV shows. I took them on a "nature adventure" but made it a game to pick one color and try and see how many things we could find of that color. We ended up finding an old toy and using their imagination, picking up trash (because it "made the earth sad") ,and overall having a blast. I loved seeing how much fun they had with it!
