Hi there! My name is Erin but I prefer to go by my middle name, McKenzie. I'm the oldest of 4 girls and basically raised my sisters. I'm currently 17, turning 18 on the 11th of February. I like to consider myself very open minded and considerate. I'm not yet certified in CPR or first aid however I am enrolled in college to become a nurse and am more than willing to get my certifications to put you and your family more at ease. I've never been an actual nanny before, however I have done tons and tons of babysitting for family friends. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have done quite a bit of babysitting for family friends. Sometimes overnight and sometimes just for a few hours. I took care of my younger sisters for most of my childhood and continue to do so at times even though I do not live with my parents or my siblings. I have volunteered with Special Touch Ministries. My aunt and uncle actually are coordinators and have been volunteers with Special Touch for several years. Volunteering with a getaway ministry such as Special Touch gave me a handful of experience with children with special needs and it also taught me to have tons of patience. I volunteer as a tech for the Pleasant Grove flag team which means I'm dealing with 13-18 year olds on a regular basis. I'm also very good with toddlers and young children. I've pretty much taken the role in my family as the babysitter which means I'm usually the one to stay behind and babysit which is fine because I don't mind doing it. I love the imagination and lightheartedness kids bring to our world.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love both the outdoors and the indoors. A few outdoor activities I like would be soccer, volleyball, tag, etc.. Pretty much anything is within my wheelhouse. A few indoor activities I'm fond of would be hide and seek, watching tv, listening to music and dancing, video games, reading, etc.. I also enjoy activities such as yoga, meditation, and things that you could do both in and outdoors. I like to bake and draw and color and all sorts of fun activities to keep the kiddos entertained.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part about being a nanny is the trust and safety between the family and the nanny. There is quite a bit of trust involved when a parent puts you in charge of their child/children. A part of that trust is trusting you to keep their kiddos safe. Ensuring that everyone including yourself are safe is the most important part about being a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I have volunteered with Special Touch Ministries, which if you don't know what that is that's perfectly fine. Special Touch Ministries is a christian based organization that organizes get-aways where people of all ages who have special needs can go and do all sorts of fun and safe activities. We do horse back riding, boat rides, festivals, swimming, sports, talent shows and more. I have volunteered as a caregiver in training (CIT) and was what they call a "floater". Which meant I basically helped out wherever I was needed. I assisted in taking care of children with both cognitive and physical disabilities. It was truly such an amazing experience just getting to spend time with such amazing young men and women who touched my heart and changed my view on the world. I changed their diapers, helped transport in and out of wheelchairs, helped feed and bathe some of the guests and most importantly I became a friend to several of our guests.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I've never been a official nanny before, however, my favorite babysitting moment would probably have to be when I was looking after my friends' baby boy Marlin. Marlin was about 18 months and I was looking after him for a few days while his parents went on a trip for a wedding out of state. On the second night I had Marlin, I decided to sing to him before bed. At this time Marlin wasn't speaking and still hadn't said his first word. But we were listening to Adele and I was singing along and all of a sudden he said "hello" from the song by adele. Sounded a bit more like "hewwo" at the time but still by far my favorite moment while babysitting. The excitement I felt hearing him say his first word still remains unmatched. And don't worry, his momma wasn't too upset that she missed it because I made sure to catch it on video plenty of times and sent them to her before our time together was up.
