More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have extensive experience in childcare and education. As a dedicated stay-at-home mother, I successfully raised and homeschooled my two children, who are now grown. This role required me to develop and implement educational curricula, manage daily schedules, and create a nurturing and supportive learning environment tailored to their individual needs and interests.

In addition to my experience as a homeschooling parent, I have also worked as a substitute teacher in Derby and Mulvane, covering kindergarten through 12th grade. This position allowed me to further hone my teaching skills across a wide range of subjects and age groups, adapt to diverse classroom settings, and manage various student behaviors. My time as a substitute teacher provided me with valuable insights into the public school system and expanded my ability to engage and educate students of all backgrounds.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I greatly enjoy engaging in various activities with children that are both fun and educational. Some of my favorite activities include:

• Arts and Crafts: I love to nurture creativity through arts and crafts projects, allowing children to express themselves and develop their fine motor skills.
• Reading Books: Reading together is a cherished activity. I enjoy introducing children to new stories and authors, fostering a love for literature and enhancing their language skills.
• Playing Music: Music is a wonderful way to engage with children. I enjoy singing songs, playing instruments, and exploring different types of music to develop their auditory skills and rhythm.
• Outdoor Adventures: I love taking children on adventures to the zoo and museums, where they can learn about animals, history, science, and the arts in an interactive and enjoyable way.

These activities not only provide entertainment but also contribute to the children’s overall development and learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny to me is creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children can thrive. I believe that a nanny plays a crucial role in a child’s development, and it’s essential to build strong, trusting relationships with both the children and their families.

• Safety and Well-being: Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the children is my top priority. I am vigilant about maintaining a secure environment and am proactive in addressing any potential hazards.
• Emotional Support: Providing consistent emotional support is vital. I strive to be a comforting and reliable presence in the children’s lives, helping them navigate their feelings and build confidence.
• Educational Growth: Whether it’s through reading, arts and crafts, or outdoor exploration, I aim to make learning fun and accessible.
• Positive Role Model: I demonstrate kindness, patience, and respect, guiding children in developing these values themselves.

My experience with special needs children...

I have personal and practical experience caring for children with special needs. My son has had type 1 diabetes for the past 10 years. This experience has given me an understanding of the daily challenges and necessary care associated with this condition.
Diabetes Management: I am well-versed in monitoring blood glucose levels, administering insulin, and managing diet and exercise to maintain stable blood sugar levels. I understand the importance of routine and vigilance in preventing and responding to hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes.
Educational Support: I have also become adept at educating others about diabetes, from family members to teachers and peers, ensuring my son is supported in various environments.
Emotional Support: Supporting my son emotionally has been a crucial aspect of managing his condition. I have developed strategies to help him cope with the psychological aspects of living with a chronic illness, fostering resilience and a positive outlook.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Here’s an example of how you might present your favorite nanny experience:

My favorite nanny experience was caring for a wonderful family with three young children. One summer, we embarked on a project to create a backyard garden. The children were eager to learn about planting, watering, and nurturing various plants. We spent many joyful afternoons digging in the soil, planting seeds, and watching our garden grow.

This experience was particularly memorable because it was not only fun but also incredibly educational. The children learned about responsibility, patience, and the science of plant growth. We even incorporated arts and crafts by making colorful plant markers and painting pots.

The highlight of this experience was the sense of accomplishment we all felt when we harvested our first vegetables. It was a beautiful reminder of the value of hands-on learning and the joy of sharing simple, meaningful activities with children.
