A little bit about me

Hello ! I am looking for a flexible and fun job and have been missing my nanny days for quite some time now! I am located in Greenup and I am 24 years old. I have always had a passion for working with people, but I've always been drawn to kids, animals, and adults with disabilities. I have 11 siblings and nannied for years through high school and college. I am CPR and first aid certified and even spent time working with special needs children so I can comfortably say I would be great in any setting! More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am the second oldest of eleven siblings so all my life I've been around young kids, two of which were considered special needs! I also babysat and nanny’s for 5 years and was a mentor in a kindergarten classroom for 1.5 years. Every summer I also volunteer with my church to help run our Vacation Bible School, which requires me to look after and engage with 40+ kids a day! My passions both include helping people and taking care of those in need, specifically adults with developmental disabilities. I was a student at Morehead State University working towards a social work degree but have recently moved back to Greenup and am altering my course to something a little more hands on. I miss my nanny days and am hoping that this will be a great way to make some money and work towards my career!!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love crafts, games, and being outside. If it's a rainy day, my creativity shines through as we work on crafts or fun board games. When it's sunny, I love going to parks or splashing in creeks! Through the years I have developed a great sense of adaptability so even if it's an activity that I'm not used to. I'm 100% up for anything!!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Building relationships and creating a lasting impact on children and families! It's always important to make room for fun when working with kids, but it's also important to make sure responsibilities are dealt with!

My experience with special needs children...

I have two siblings who are considered special needs. One brother is deaf so I'm practiced in ASL and my other brother is autistic with a speech impediment. I've been in 4 Paws for Ability for 3 years where I foster and train service dogs and then help place them with their child so I have met and worked with a variety of children and adults that way. I also was a mentor in a kindergarten classroom when I was in high school, and one of my students had down syndrome and couldn't walk so I learned how to work with her and tend to all of her needs as well as be her voice and advocate for her when needed. On top of all of that, now in my later life I have built my career off of working with adults that have a wide ray of developmental disabilities.
