A little bit about me

Hello families!

My name is Flor and I am a freshman at SBCC.

With 8 years of experience under my belt, I'm highly skilled in working with children of all ages, including multiples and those with special needs. My extensive babysitting experience dates back to when I was 18 years old, and for the past four years, I've been working with the same family. I've completed a course in early childhood development, which has proven to be highly helpful in my nanny years. Being bilingual in Spanish and English, I can offer your children the added benefit of learning a second language. As a responsible nanny, I'm certified in first aid and CPR, and I'll always prioritize your children's safety.

If you're in search of a compassionate and dependable nanny, look no further. I'd be honored to provide the care and support your children need to thrive.

"Hi Mom’s that are looking for a nanny starting in 2023! We will sadly be letting our nanny go in 2023 when our daughter starts preschool. My children (my son is almost 11, my daughter is 8 and my little one almost 3) are truly better because she is in our lives. She has been an incredible part of our family and I feel so grateful for the time my children got with her. She is primarily a Spanish speaker and has a background as an assistant teacher. She is so incredible with our kids and always comes up with fun and creative projects to keep them entertained. I sometimes work from home and hear laughs on the other side of the door most of the afternoon. If you end up in contact with her I am more than happy to be contacted for references!"

"Flor has been with our family since our little guy was 5 months old and we absolutely adore her. She is CPR certified, covid vaccinated and boosted (very covid and germ conscious in general), and very experienced with infants and toddlers. Reliable, hardworking, attentive, and a complete natural with children. I am an elementary school teacher and I truly believe her calling is to work with kids. She has so much energy, and is incredibly kind. We absolutely love her! My son who is now two loves being around her (and doesn't even cry when we leave)."

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Hello! As a prospective nanny, I wanted to share with you my experience volunteering with children.

I've had the pleasure of working as a math tutor for children at a local library through a college program in my hometown. This experience allowed me to enhance my teaching skills and helped me learn how to communicate with children in a fun and engaging way.

Additionally, I've served as an assistant teacher in a school for children with special needs. This experience taught me the value of patience, compassion, and sensitivity when working with children who may require extra support.

Finally, I've volunteered in the FLIP program at a food bank in Santa Barbara, where I read to children and helped them learn to love reading.

I believe that my experience volunteering with children has prepared me well for a role as a nanny, and I look forward to bringing my skills and passion for childcare to your family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

As a nanny who follows the Montessori approach, I love to engage children in a variety of activities that help them learn and grow. Some of the things I enjoy doing with children include arts and crafts projects, which not only foster their creativity but also help them develop fine motor skills. I'm also a big fan of sports, particularly baseball and swimming, and I love to encourage children to stay active and healthy through fun games and activities. Additionally, I have a background in drama, so I enjoy playing pretend games with children, such as singing and dancing, which can help them develop their imagination and social skills. Overall, I believe in creating a fun and engaging environment where children can explore and learn at their own pace.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important thing about being a nanny is building strong, trusting relationships with the families I work with. When I care for a child, I see myself as an extension of their family, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I believe that communication and collaboration are key to providing the best possible care, and I always make an effort to keep parents informed about their child's progress and well-being. But beyond that, I strive to create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe, loved, and supported. Whether we're reading a book, playing outside, or working on a new skill, my goal is always to build positive, meaningful connections with the children in my care.

My experience with special needs children...

As an assistant teacher at a school for children with special needs, I gained valuable experience in providing support and care to children who require additional assistance. I worked closely with the classroom teacher to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that catered to the unique needs of each child. I provided one-on-one support to students, helping them with academic tasks and activities, as well as encouraging their social and emotional development. This experience taught me the importance of patience, compassion, and adaptability when working with children who require special attention, and it has prepared me well for a role as a nanny.

The most important part about being a nanny...

As a nanny, it's hard to choose just one favorite moment - there are so many experiences that I treasure in my heart. From the sweet, quiet moments of cuddling and reading together to the joyous, laughter-filled moments of running around and playing games, every day brings new opportunities for connection, growth, and learning. What I love most about being a nanny is the chance to build relationships with the children in my care, and to see them grow and develop over time. Whether we're exploring nature, creating art, or just enjoying each other's company, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share in these moments with the children I care for. For me, being a nanny is all about creating memories that will last a lifetime, and I cherish each and every one of them.
