Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Most of my experience is hands on because I’m still raising kids. I have 4 of my own and a bonus blessing, my granddaughter. I also have over 6 years experience working in the school districts as a Substitute Teacher’s Assistant, Substitute Teacher, and a school bus driver. I also had a volunteer position as a patient pal, taking care of newborns while the mother rested.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and craft, dancing, singing, exercises, going for walks, reading, drawing/painting, listening to music, watching family friendly movies and shows, and almost anything that the children are interested in.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the kids are happy, healthy, well fed, and make sure they feel loved and safe. I love to see kids smile. It warms my heart.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked as a Substitute Teacher for several years and half of those years were with special needs students. I have worked with autistic and behavioral needs students. As long as I am informed about the needs of the child and their triggers, if any, I can help take care of any child with any type of disability or learning challenges. I have also helped students with learning challenges in the inclusion program and went with my students to class and assisted them in each of their classes.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had a student who was autistic and really didn’t do much of anything on his own. After spending a lot of time with him, and showing him how to feed himself, he began to start feeding himself with me encouraging him and pushing him to do it for himself. It was a very happy moment for his parents and for me to see the progress.
