A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Freda, and I have worked in the childcare industry for a decade. I have been a household manager, a nanny, a camp councilor, an assistant teacher, a mentor, a babysitter, and a PCA. I have worked with children ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers. I am highly dependable, from having won awards for perfect attendance to having been known to show up to bus stops 15 minutes early just in case. I believe in modeling good behavior, and teaching children to become citizens of the world. I’m currently attending college to study developmental psychology and communication disorders, having already spent hours in seminars while working in the local public school system. Previously I’ve been CPR, First Aid, and AED certified multiple times for infants, children, and adults. Working with children is so important because they are society’s tomorrow, and that’s why I love this job today. I have worked with individuals with autism, ADD, ADHD, anger issues, emotional issues, and cerebral palsy. I have also worked with those who are paraplegic, non-verbal, non-ambulatory, and those suffering from traumatic loss. I have experience working with families who’s makeup is single mothers and fathers, to highly religious traditional families, to two sets of step-parents, and those who are in “non-traditional” families. In camp we would watch the kids all day every day they came for the summer and have fun activities for them. In child watch we would babysit the kids if the parents were using the facilities, so only for a few hours. Then swim instructing we would teach them how to swim day by day just getting them comfortable to the water.
