Hi! My name is Gabby, and I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky studying Kinesiology and Exercise Science on a pre-physical therapy track. I have experience working with children of all ages, including children with special needs and developmental disabilities. I currently work part-time at a physical therapy clinic, which has strengthened my skills in communication, patience, safety, and child development. I also occasionally help care for a family with an almost 2-year-old and have been with them since he was 3 months old. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Relevant experience where I also cared for children includes working as a nanny for multiple families with children of varying ages and needs. I cared for twin 11-year-old girls with high-behavior autism, as well as a family with a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old special needs boy who required assisted walking, feeding tube support, seizure monitoring, and was nonverbal. I also worked with a family that had a 4-year-old boy and a 6-year-old special needs child who used AFOs, a walker, AAC communication, and required seizure awareness and mobility assistance. Currently, I occasionally help care for an almost 2-year-old and have been with the family since he was 2 months old. In addition, I previously worked at an ABA clinic as a Behavior Technician, supporting children with behavioral and developmental needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing a variety of fun and engaging activities with children, including outdoor play, crafts, imaginative play, reading, sensory activities, sports, trips to parks or playgrounds, and age-appropriate educational activities. I also enjoy encouraging creativity, movement, and social interaction while creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment for kids to learn and have fun.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, supportive, and trusting environment where children feel comfortable being themselves. Building strong relationships with both the children and their families is very important to me. I also think it is important to encourage growth, independence, creativity, and confidence while making sure each child feels cared for, understood, and supported in their individual needs.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working with children with special needs in both home and clinical settings. I have cared for children with autism, developmental disabilities, mobility limitations, seizure disorders, and nonverbal communication needs. My experience includes supporting children who use AAC devices, walkers, AFOs, feeding tubes, and other adaptive equipment. I also previously worked as a Behavior Technician at an ABA clinic, where I supported children with behavioral and developmental needs. Through these experiences, I have developed strong patience, adaptability, communication, and caregiving skills while creating a safe and supportive environment for each child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was watching a child I cared for gain confidence and independence over time. Being able to celebrate milestones, whether it was improved communication, trying new activities, or simply seeing them excited to accomplish something they had been working on, was incredibly rewarding. I love building close relationships with the children and families I work with and being someone they can trust, support, and have fun with every day.
