I got to be an au pair for three kids in Australia and three more in Japan, and it was such an amazing experience! I loved spending time with the kids, getting to know the families, and learning about their cultures. I’m really excited to start doing it again soon!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy a variety of activities with kids, both indoors and outdoors! Inside, I love reading, coloring, building with blocks or Legos, and playing pretend games like house, school, fairies, pirates, or anything else the children imagine. Outdoors, I’m all about playing sports, riding bikes, swimming, jumping on trampolines, and finding new ways to have fun and stay active together
The most important part about being a nanny...
I always take the time to really get to know the kids and help them thrive. I want them to see me as a friend, but also understand that I’m the one in charge when their parents aren’t around. It’s so important to show them that you care, that you’re there to support them, and that you’re ready to play and be silly with them too!
My experience with special needs children...
I had the opportunity to care for a young boy with autism, and he was such a sweetheart. It was a bit of a learning curve since it was my first experience working with someone on the spectrum, but we quickly formed a great bond and became wonderful friends!
The most important part about being a nanny...
It’s the sweetest thing when the kids want me to sit next to them or have all my attention—it just melts my heart. Moments like when they say “I love you” or tell me they missed me after my days off make everything so special. Kids are so pure and full of love, and those little moments bring me so much joy.
