A little bit about me

I’ve been babysitting since I was 9 years old, I love children, watching them grow and getting to teach them and watch them explore the world. I am background checked, CPR/First aid certified, and I was a daycare teacher before becoming a nanny. Eventually I will go to community college, it’s just a matter of when I am able to afford it, I want to be a L&D nurse. I have a major thing that’s non negotiable- an immune deficiency, I live a perfectly normal life aside from infusions every three weeks to give me an immune system in a sense, and keep me from getting sick as easily, and are required for me to live, I know in advance at each infusion when the next one is, they are usually (aside from holidays) on Thursdays meaning the day of infusion and day after I would be taking off. I hope you give me a chance despite this, and I can’t wait to find the perfect family and hopefully it will be long term. I understand the infusions can be a major thing so I understand if that doesn’t work.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Worked at my church with the children from 8 weeks to 3 years old and also worked with the special needs group.
I also babysat 3 kids from 3-8, watched my little brother from age 7-11, I’ve babysat an 8 and 10 year old as well from church along with my daycare teaching experience. I’ve worked with special needs and babies as young as 8 weeks. I’ve worked at my current daycare for over a year, but am looking for a change and to work privately for a family. I am background checked and CPR certified.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Swimming, exploring, going on walks, gardening, reading books, cooking/baking, and movie nights.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The bond and trust created between the family and me. I don’t see this as a transaction, or even just a business relationship, for me it’s personal. I will probably be the one with the children most of the time, I will see them a lot, and I want you and the kids to trust me, and to come to me if you need help, and for me that means treating it almost like an extension of family. Eventually I will have to leave as the kids and I grow up, but until then, I want to be trusted like family, that doesn’t mean overstepping boundaries and taking advantage of the relationship, it means that we create an environment that is open without judgement of mistakes and where growth is able to happen. We’re all human, mistakes will happen, but we have to have a connection and the trust to be able to recognize, understand, and fix them, without fear of upsetting one another.

My experience with special needs children...

I do have experience, but I’m not as comfortable by myself with them.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Watching her take her first steps, anytime she was upset or hurt she would come to me saying “I need a hug”, and when I got back from vacation and she ran yelling “GIGI” all the way from her parents room to me and then jumping into my arms and giving me the biggest bear hug, and watching her become the best big sister
