A little bit about me

Growing up in a family of six children, I've always known I wanted to work with children--there was never a dull moment, and when my little brother was diagnosed with type one diabetes, life got even crazier. But we adjusted and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Ever since I was little, I've been playing music. I've learned piano, guitar, and ukulele, and I love to sing! I love to draw and get my hands messy with arts and crafts.

I've worked in a professional daycare which is where I got my First Aid/CPR certification. I cared for mostly toddlers and infants and saying goodbye was one of the hardest things I have ever done. It gave me a love and appreciation for each child and their specific, individual needs which develop at such a young age.

I have nannied for five+ years, currently in school to be a special education teacher. I worked in a daycare for a year, as well as volunteered at summer camps during my teenage years. Currently I work at a local junior high and love every minute!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Arts and crafts! There is nothing like letting kids' imaginations run wild and letting them use their hands. Encouraging them to make their own art promotes independent learning and fine motor skills, too!

My younger brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 7, so I am familiar with special dieting needs. I work in the behavioral disorder department at a local junior high so I also have experience with behavioral needs as well.

Picking up my nanny-kids from school and watching their faces light up. It is so precious to develop such special relationships with each of the kids.
