A little bit about me

I have been working in childcare and education for over ten years now :) I just had my very first baby as well and am looking to start a care/art education program from home. I‘ve taught as a lead toddler teacher most recently at an all day care program. I also taught art history to the older kids in the center during our summer camp enrichment program. I was a nanny for a wonderful family in Ithaca for two years. Prior to that, I taught preschool art for two years and worked at a special education center as a 1:1 TA. I love children. I get along very well with them automatically, intuitively. It brings me great joy to be in service to children and meet them in their worlds while teaching them how to navigate the big one outside of themselves. I have a BFA in art and am a practicing artist. Guiding children through art exploration and watching them create their own art confidently and openly is my biggest passion.

The boy I used to nanny for would pretend I was a princess and fight off various kinds of monsters to protect me. He also would lay on the floor and ask me to wrap him in a blanket just so he could “hatch”- and he would hatch over and over into different animals and come out cry “hi mama!”
I like to just let the kid’s imaginations run wild. As long as they’re playing safe, everything is possible.
