I am a mother of five children, which I have raised and have all moved on to have their own families. They also have children, my grandchildren, which I take care of quite frequently. I worked for a subsidized daycare, the four seas in Sonoma county for over a year. I am also a psych nurse which I have taken care of developmentally, disabled children, and adults. My CPR and first aid have expired, but it is very easily renewed. My nursing license is current and active..
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love going for walks and trips to the park are very fun. I love playing with educational toys and encouraging growth and enrichment. I am a believer in reading books. Engaging the children while I am reading and making it exciting. It’s something that I was very fortunate to have as a child with my grandmother and she did it every day and it was something that I not only benefited from but will remember my whole life. Also being able to have the children engage in the activities of daily living Such as cooking or preparing meals to the point of safety, of course.

Safety, Being very aware of the things that are around, including people, animals and objects. Connection and fun are also important but nothing overrides the safety and well-being as we’re doing our daily activities and being creative. Knowing allergies and sensitivities, things that they might be frightened of or things that might have happened to them in the past. Opened an honest communication with the parents to make sure that this safety always happens!
My experience with special needs children...
I am a psych nurse and have worked in various positions. Taking care of special needs persons including children. My work at the state hospitals included special needs children requiring serious medical care, medical care. I’ve also worked in group homes as the lead, taking care of older children. I have a great understanding of medication’s treatments and Care.
