A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Georganna, I am a junior at Chico State studying Natural Sciences and Science Education (I want to become a science teacher). I have over 8 years of babysitting experience. I have also been a full-time nanny, children’s tutor, special needs teachers aide, and date night sitter.

I always do light housekeeping especially if there is down time with the kids (cleaning the kitchen while they eat, folding laundry while helping with homework, sweeping while talking about their day at school). I have also done planned meal planning and prepping, organizing extra curricular schedules, and preparing anything and everything pertaining to the kids: organizing closets, making their beds, toy decluttering, determining which clothes fit and what needs to be replaced, packing backpacks and lunches, and setting up sports gear to be ready for practice.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing crafts, art projects, baking, and any hands on activities with the kids. I also enjoy going on bike rides/scooter rides/or walking, doing to the park, swimming, outdoor adventures, and children’s museums. Some of my favorite outdoor adventures include going bird watching, looking for every color in nature and drawing the plant that corresponds to each color, and having an outdoor picnic in the backyard!

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with special needs children in a school in Winters, CA. I was the teacher’s aide in that classroom and primarily worked in small groups to teach math, english, and writing skills while incorporating games and prizes! I have also worked one on one with children and stayed with them during the duration of the school day to assist with any questions, alternative learning environments, and extra help with interacting in a classroom setting:)

The most important part about being a nanny...

I was nannying for a family with two elementary school boys. I was with them from 7am-6pm during the summer and we were driving home after a day of sports practice and I was walking them through the things we needed to do at home (take a bath, pick out their PJs, eat dinner, etc). The youngest boy asked why I always had to leave before they went to bed and the oldest boy responded with “Because she has to go back to her house to sleep,” and the younger boy replied with “Why can’t she just live at our house? She’s here all the time! That way she never has to leave and we can stay in the bath for longer.” And it just made me so happy because even though they would get sad that their parents were gone at work for most of the day, they still weren’t sick of me despite hanging out with me all day. It also made me laugh because bath time was always a negotiation of me trying to continue getting them ready for bed, and the 2 boys begging to stay in their bath “for just one more minuteeeee”.
