More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I coached youth cheerleaders when I was a Jackson Cheerleader. I coached k-2nd. I also have grown up with lots of younger cousins, as I am the second oldest and my mom is the oldest of five, so there are constantly new babies to be watched and taken care of.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Once I get my license I would love to take the kids to the park, get treats occasionally, sit at home and play board games, maybe make a special treat with them from home or have them help me make dinner if needed, read, but make it interesting for them, watch their favorite shows, draw, and all of their special interests I would love to be apart of to help get to know them better and help them trust me more!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part about being a nanny is growing close with the kids and building a relationship with them deeper than just "the lady that watches me when my parents are away." I want to bond with these kids and get to know them personally and hear all about their interests. I look forward to hearing about their days, what they learned in school that day, and even just random little stories. I love bonding with kids and I would love to be another safe space for them to come to and trust.
My experience with special needs children...
Personally I was diagnosed with ASD1, which is a form of Autism. I am extremely high functioning but it helps me understand others with special needs more to an extent because I understand how things can be overwhelming for them or how they can't express their feelings the way they want to, which are some things I used to struggle with when I was young. I have grown a lot because I had an amazing support system around me, and I believe even if it may be hard even the lower functioning children can make progress over time if they have the right support, and I would love to be that for them, as I partially understand how they feel.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I haven't nannied yet, but one of my favorite reoccurring experiences is one of the youth cheerleaders I used to coach always, without a doubt, runs to me and gives me the biggest hug whenever we see each other. She got very comfortable with me very quickly and I adore the bond that we have and I'm so lucky I have that with her, and it makes my heart warm every time a younger kid from cheer, whether it's one I used to coach, or one at my gym, runs to me and is so excited to see me. It's a real blessing.
