Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities proven safe by their parents.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Listen to the kids when they report unwitnesses falls, symptoms of sickness, showing signs of neglect/depression/abuse/suicide, witnessing suspicious activities, complaining of pain, or experiencing altered mental status while supporting and caring for them can be challenging , but using your skills can make things lots easier for them, their parents and the Nanny.
My experience with special needs children...
Over the years in Chicago IL I took care of lots of special needs kids such as sick kiddos on ventilators, takin to school wheelchair bound kids who are on Peg-Tube feedings, quadriplegics, amputees, mental retardation, deformities, autism and more. I approached them differently based on their conditions, care and needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My daughter's first week in Kindergarten. She would be sad, crying a lot everytime I drop her off, but when I put her favorite toy and my picture in her backpack, she was the first one at the school the next day ready to learn and make new friends. Other parents did the same for peace of mind because at first a few parents used to cancel their shift to stay home with them. That tactic really made me stop worrying too. I never knew her favorite toy and my pic could change the game.
