The most important part about being a nanny is creating a safe, loving, and consistent environment where children feel truly seen and supported. It is about more than supervising or following a routine. It is building trust, showing patience, and becoming a dependable part of their daily lives. A good nanny not only meets a child’s physical needs but also nurtures their curiosity, encourages their growth, and celebrates their unique personality. It is about being present in every moment, guiding with kindness, and helping children feel confident and cared for both in big milestones and in the small everyday moments that matter just as much.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments as a nanny was the day I helped a four-year-old build what he proudly called the “world’s tallest pillow fort.” He was convinced it was strong enough to survive anything, so naturally, we had to test it. I crawled inside with him, and two seconds later, the family cat decided to leap onto the top like a jungle predator. The entire fort collapsed, and we both burst out laughing so hard we forgot we were supposed to be “engineers.” By the end of the day, we rebuilt it twice, each time making it “cat-proof” with his very serious design ideas. It reminded me that the best part of working with children is joining in their creativity and finding joy in the unexpected.
